Aug. 18: Online Tasting with Tenmile Master Distiller Shane Fraser......
Hello DC Drammers!
We're excited to announce a special online tasting on Monday, August 18th at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern with the Master Distiller of Tenmile Distillery, Shane Fraser. Tenmile is an important new distillery based in New York that is serious about American Single Malt. The distillery was founded in 2017, first started making whisky in 2020 and only released their first single malt in 2023. Everything they do is made in-house in Upstate New York, even using locally-grown barley (as in 30 miles away) that is malted in New York. To accomplish all this, they brought in a heavyweight distillery, Shane Fraser, who was formerly the Distillery Manager at GlenFarclas for 6 years and again at Wolfburn for 6 years! And now their whisky has come of age and they’re starting to roll it out to the world.
Needless to say, here at Drammers WE ARE EXCITED! The lineup for this event will basically be the best Tenmile tasting lineup ever. The exact bottles are a little fluid, just because they’re spoiling us rotten with a bunch of new releases. Here’s a rough sketch of what we expect will be poured at the event — it’ll likely be tweaked with even bigger bottles and maybe even some unreleased Fall previews when the event starts!
Little Rest American Single Malt - Founder’s Edition.
Little Rest - Port Cask Finish
Little Rest - Export Cask. A 4yo version of their flagship, comprised of 80% ex-bourbon casks and 20% ex-sherry casks.
Little Rest - Classic III. American Single Malt.
Little Rest - Bourbon Cask
Little Rest - Pinot Noir Finish. Aged 3 years and bottled at 46% abv. Which will be fun to compare to…
Little Rest Pinot Noir Cask Strength. 5 Year – the first! This is a marriage of two Williams Selyem barrels together, now five years old and bottled at cask strength. 61.5% abv
Little Rest Revolutionary Whisky – Battle #12: The Battle of Brooklyn. 25 Gallon Bourbon casks also filled in 2020, also no longer purchased by the distillery, this bottling serves to create a comparison to “The Battle of White Plains.” With incrementally fewer units of wood per unit of New Make Spirit, this bottling is functionally just as old but demonstrates the role played by the volume of the vessel aging the whisky. Which one do you like better and why? 4yo, 46% abv.
Little Rest Revolutionary Whisky – Battle #15: The Battle of White Plains. 15 Gallon Bourbon casks filled in 2020, these barrels are no longer purchased by Tenmile Distillery because our spirit is maturing so well in the full size barrels. A very limited commodity many of them were used to fill two large Sherry Butts to create our award-winning “Double Matured” which got a 95 and Double Gold in San Francisco. Don’t miss this whisky before it’s gone. 4yo 46% abv.
Little Rock - Gin by the Tenmile Distillery
That’s our lineup! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Drammers Club
