Apr. 14: Drammers Orange County......
Hello Orange County Drammers!
We’re getting together on Monday, April 14th at 7pm in Seal Beach for another rare whiskey and spirits tasting. A big thank you to Keith for hosting us again (his address is 133 11th street, Seal Beach ca 90740). We’ll be tasting through 8 expressions, some of which we’re announced below, and we’ll have a couple surprises too. And we’ll order in light food (likely pizza) which is included with your ticket. As always, we strongly recommend arranging a ride home, as we’ll be drinking a lot of cask strength spirits at this event!
We hope you can join us! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Charlie, Keith and Drammers Club
BOTTLE LINEUP FOR THE EVENT:
Russell's Reserve - Single Rickhouse 2024. Somewhere between 5 and 6 thousand bottles of these were released in 2024. This is the highest proof of any Rickhouse release so far, and this 2024 single rickhouse is Camp Nelson B (in 2022 it was Camp Nelson C, and in 2023 it was Camp Nelson F). No age statement, but on rick #6, right in the middle, and we know they fill the barrel at 115, and it was bottled at 120.2, so that indicates it's a little older (last year was reportedly 14-15 years old). Available in a bundle at DRINQY.com
Wyoming Whiskey - 2 Different Cask Strength Single Barrels. In August of 2020, we traveled to this distillery, joined by our tasting committee online with members across the United States choosing 2 barrels exclusively for our club. The two casks capture an important moment in the history of this distillery -- they recruited longtime Maker's Mark Master Distiller Steve Nally to get their distillery going from its launch in 2009, but when he stepped down in 2014 they made some small tweaks to the process, importantly shortening the fermentation time by one day. We selected two casks -- one of the last casks that Steve Nally distilled in his style before departing, and another 6 months later, after he'd left and they'd made the changes -- an interesting opportunity to see the differences. ($70 at DRINQY.com)
SANGO - African Agave Distillate - Blanco. 100% agave spirit, made with African agave African Agave Americana and Agave Salmiana, harvested in South Africa and distilled in the heart of the Zulu Nation, KwaZulu Natal. The brand describes it as follows: Our Agave is pit and oven roasted, fermented in open top vats with water from the Drakensberg river and wild African yeast, triple distilled in a copper pot and column still. $49.99 at DRINQY.com
Peerless KY Bourbon - "Friendsgiving". This cask strength single barrel was selected by our friends at the legendary Jack Rose Dining Saloon in Washington DC. It is was aged for 6 years and featured a high-rye mashbill. As far as we know, we are the only ones who have any bottles of this outside of Jack Rose as part of our partnership with them (they also carry most of our single barrels on the menu at the bar). Cask Strength, 54.3% abv. $118.99 at DRINQY.com
