Apr. 30: Drammers Chicago -w- Mark Reynier, Founder of Waterford Whisky......

Hello Chicago Drammers!

This is really exciting — on April 30th at 6:30pm, we’re welcoming Mark Reynier, Founder of Waterford Irish Whisky. Mark likely needs no introduction for many of our members. He famously was the driving force behind resurrecting the Bruichladdich distillery where he arguably more than anyone in the industry made the case for terroir in industry. Once he sold his stake in that distillery, he doubled down on proving the importance of terroir, by founding a distillery across the way in Ireland, the Waterford distillery, that went so far as to isolate the barley from each farm to distill separately, to help isolate the impact of the location on the whisky. Our club had the honor of welcoming their head distiller Ned Gahan back on Oct. 11, 2020, where we the first group anywhere in the world to try all of their first US releases and all of their first UK/EU releases side-by-side (spoiler alert — they sent the sweeter casks to the US, ha). But as exciting as that event was, we have never had the opportunity to welcome Mr. Reynier in person, something we will finally rectify on March 30th in Chicago. Here is the lineup for the event:

As usual, we will have light food on hand (likely pizza) to make sure nobody is drinking on an empty stomach, and arranging a ride home is strongly recommended. The location will be the Birch Road clubhouse (address:  1113 W Armitage Ave.).
