Fellow Drammers,

We’re excited to announce a special online tasting on Wednesday, August 10th at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern with Scott Blackwell, the co-founder of High Wire Distilling in South Carolina, along with his wife Ann Marshall. Ever since welcoming them both to the Save Our Whiskey Bars! Benefit event for Jack Rose Saloon that we did during the pandemic, we've wanted to do a deep dive into this innovative distillery located in South Carolina.  They are probably best known for their bourbon and ryes using Jimmy Red Corn, and lately they’ve been experimenting with some single-farm distillations, Waterford-style. Not as well known, but equally exciting from our perspective, they also make some exquisite peach brandy! We’ll be tasting all of that at this tasting, and we might even have some special unreleased samples to boot. But here’s what we know we’ll be tasting so far:

  • Jimmy Red Bourbon finished in Oloroso, 46.5% abv

  • High Wire Rye finished in Tawny port, 45% abv

  • High Wire Straight Bourbon using jimmy red corn, 50% abv

  • Peach brandy, 2 years in French oak, , bottled July 30, 2018

  • 2 different single farm varietals of their bourbon, released by their DC distributor Prestige-Ledroit

  • an unaged smoked whiskey they’ve been playing around with

  • Plus a single barrel pick from our friends at Jack Rose Saloon in Washington DC

So we’ll at least be tasting those 8 expressions, and like we said, there may be bonus pours, we’ll see.  And we’ll have Scott on hand to tell us all about it!

We hope you an join us! Please let us know if you have any questions, and (as usual) anyone in the club who has been to one of our events is welcome to invite friends to join.

Cheers,
Drammers Club
