Hello Las Vegas Drammers!

We have a fun announcement to share — on August 24th starting at 6:30pm, we’re excited to welcome as our guest speaker Dave Schmier, the founder of many great whiskey brands including Proof & Wood Ventures, Tumblin’ Dice, The Senator and (in a prior life) Redemption Rye. It is not an exaggeration that Dave was one of a very small handful of people to pioneer the resurgence of rye as a category in the United States, and we are very proud to call him both a fellow member of the club and a good friend. This will be our first chance to welcome him to Las Vegas as our guest speaker. Kristina and Simon have generously agreed to host this event (address: 4131 Salisto Street, Las Vegas, 89135)!

As for what we’ll be drinking, our guest speaker has generously offered to bring a wide range of bottles. You may be familiar with some of his brands like The Senator, Roulette Rye, The Representative, Tumblin’ Dice, Good Day and more. He’ll likely also bring a couple of the fun rum bottlings he’s created, including The Funk, and possibly a limited rum bottling he calls “2/3” — aged in ex-Bourbon barrels in Jamaica for at least two years then aged for three years in Kentucky in ex-Rye barrels, for a truly unique flavor. We’re working on pulling together some fun rare bottles to add to the mix ourselves (more on that soon). Charlie will be busy getting our tastings ready at Drammers Black Rock City on the other side of the state that night, so Bob will be taking the lead on organizing this one! We’ll order in light food as usual (likely pizza) to make sure nobody is drinking on an empty stomach, and as always, arranging a ride home is strongly recommended.
