Hello NYC Drammers!

Our next event will be at 3pm on Saturday, July 19th, and it’s a fun one — we’ll be trying a whole lotta Scotch with guest speaker Howard Sacks. He’s the importer for several Scotch brands we love including experimental mad scientists at the Holyrood Distillery in Edinburgh and several independent bottlers including Lady of the Glen, Creetown and Dram Mor. We’ll be trying a little bit from each of the brands, including:

  • Holyrood Distillery - Ambir. They describe this as a sweet and creamy single malt whisky that celebrates our explorations into specialty malt, featuring four specialty malts; Chocolate malt, Vienna malt, Crystal 240 and Caramalt.  49.8% abv.

  • Holyrood Distillery - Embra. Holyrood describes this as “a smooth balance of smoky flavours and rich textures. Featuring a diverse range of yeasts, including two distillers strains, three brewers yeasts, and two wine yeasts.  Embra is an ideal introduction to peat, while still delivering the smoky depth peat drinkers love.” 43.6% abv.

  • Lady of the Glen - St. Bridget’s Kirk 35yo Blended Scotch. A blend of single malt and grain Scotches, the youngest of the bunch is 35 years old! 41.5% abv

  • Lady of the Glen - Dalgety. This is a single malt Scotch mingling of Glen Spey 10yo barrels, one aged in a 2nd fill ex-ruby port cask, the other in an experimental port cask they are calling a “super port”. 50.2% abv.

  • Lady of the Glen - Auchentoshan 16yo. The famous triple distilled whisky from Auchentoshan. Aged in a first-fill ruby port hogshead. 1 of 244 bottles. 55.7% abv.

  • Creetown - 17yo North British. We don’t have the stats on this, but we know it was aged in an Oloroso cask.

  • Creetown - 16yo “Orkney”. They can’t put Highland Park on the bottle, but that’s what this is.

  • Dram Mor - Tomintoul 13yo PX Cask. Cask Number: #900142, 56.1% abv. Finished in a First Fill PX Hogshead

That’s our lineup, we hope you can join us! We’ll order in pizza as usual (included), and it will take place at Charlie & Summer’s apartment (let us know if you need the address). As always, we must respectfully require that nobody drive home after the event, we’ll be drinking a ton of high-proof whisky after all! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
