Hello Chicago Drammers!
We’ve got an exciting guest speaker for our next Drammers Chicago event on Friday, July 22nd at 7pm — Sam Halpern is the Managing Partner and National Brand Manager for Blue Run Spirits, one of the hottest new American whiskey brands out there. Probably most of you already know about them, but if you're not familiar with Blue Run, they got instant whiskey-nerd cred when they announced that they had engaged Jim Rutledge, the former master distiller for Four Roses, to play a key role in the company. He even distilled himself some of their initial releases during his time at Castle & Key. It doesn’t hurt that they’re also working with our friends at Bardstown Bourbon Co. We assume Blue Run’s strategy is evolving to include other sourced whiskies, and our guest speaker, Sam Halpern, is in a better position to tell us about that and answer questions than probably just about anyone at the company, so it should be a really interesting conversation and event. We’ll be tasting an array of their special releases, including of course their core products (the High Rye, Golden Rye and Reflection I), plus we’re in the process of tracking down several fun additional bottles, so it will be our usual fulsome lineup, ha.
