Hello NYC Drammers!

We’re delighted to announce an upcoming event with Westland’s Tyler Pederson, he’s their Distillery Manager and impressively Whisky Magazine recently named him the 2023 Global Distillery Manager of the year. Hard to find someone more knowledgeable about Westland — he’s been with them since 2013 and he’s currently enrolled in the post-graduate program at Heriot-Watt University, where he is pursuing a Masters of Science in Brewing and Distilling. We’ll be tasting a broad array of their core range, plus special single barrels, including a mezcal finished single barrel they recently did with Jack Rose, and our very own two single barrels, that we were so proud to select with them in 2019 (really an honor for us btw — they launched their single barrel program in 2019 with 9 special single barrels, and we got two of them!). For those unfamiliar with Westland, they are based in Seattle and are one of a small handful of distilleries leading the American Single Malt revolution (along with Westward, Balcones and Virginia Distillery Co., among others). They have launched some incredibly innovative expressions — crafting whiskey aged in Garryana oak, peating single malt using peat from Washington State, and releasing a series of whiskies using different barley varietals, etc. — truly innovative and impressive stuff. We’ll be getting into all of that, along with some special surprises, and it will be really interesting to hear Tyler’s take on what Westland is doing and his plans for the distillery in the future.
