Hello Delaware Drammers!
On Thursday, October 2nd at 7pm, you’re invited to join us for a special tasting with the Director of Sales for the Isle of Raasay Distillery, Scott Fraser, who will be in town from Scotland. The Isle of Raasay Distillery is an exciting new-ish distillery (founded in 2014), and they’re already releasing incredible whiskey. A big thank you to Jared for organizing, and to the Newark Masonic Lodge for hosting us (address: 207 East Delaware Avenue, Newark, DE 19713).
Isle of Raasay’s “flagship” Scotch is a single malt made up of 6 component cask types, and as a fun experiment last year, they released cask strength single barrels of all six, so only like 200ish bottles of each for the US, and we gobbled them up so that we could use them at events like this going forward. So we’ll be trying all 6 of these one-off single casks, plus their flagship Scotch, and a special release. More specifically, here’s the lineup for the event:
Isle of Raasay - Flagship Single Malt Scotch, 46.4% abv (details)
Raasay Single Cask - Unpeated Ex-Rye - Cask #19/921 (details)
Raasay Single Cask - Peated ex-Rye - Cask #19/1996 (details)
Raasay Single Cask - Unpeated ex-Bordeaux Red Wine (details)
Raasay Single Cask - Peated ex-Bordeaux Red Wine - Cask #19/527, 61.9% abv (details)
Raasay Single Cask - Unpeated Chinkapin - Cask #19/580, 61.6% abv (details)
Raasay Single Cask - Peated Chinkapin - Cask #20/82, 61.4% abv (details)
Raasay - Distillery of the Year - Limited Edition Bottling, 50.7% abv (details)
Btw, fun fact: the team behind the Isle of Raasay Distillery is also starting production on building another distillery — the Machrihanish Distillery in Campbeltown, which is the first new distillery in Campbeltown in a long time).
We hope you can join us! We’ll order in light food (likely pizza, included) to try to make sure nobody is drinking on an empty stomach, and of course (as always) arranging a ride home is strongly encouraged. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Charlie, Jared and Drammers Club
