Hello London Drammers!

You're invited to join us this Wednesday, May 14th at 7pm for another Drammers London tasting of rare whisky and rum!  We've assembled a great lineup which you can read about in detail below.

We hope you can join us!  A big thank you to Little Orange Door in Clapham for hosting us (address:  16A Clapham Common South Side, London SW4 7AB).  We'll order in light food (included in your ticket). Please let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Charlie, Ange, Adi and Drammers Club

BOTTLE LINEUP:

  • The Hearach - Single Malt Scotch.  This is the first legal whisky from the Isle of Harris, and it is fairly hard to come by.  We recently hosted an online event with their distillery team, and we're proud to say we brought in more versions of their flagship The Hearach, than anyone else in the country.  The Hearach single malt whisky was made using soft Outer Hebridean waters from the Abhainn Cnoc a ’Charrain, which runs over the oldest rocks on earth, and 100% Scottish Concerto barley that was lightly peated at 12-15ppm using peat cut by hand at 'Cleite Mhòr', an area of South Harris where peat has been harvested for generations. This Scotch also benefits from a long fermentation that runs for up to five days, as well as maturation for at least five years in three cask types, Fino butts, first-fill bourbon, and oloroso sherry casks.

  • Wilderness Trail Wheated Bourbon Drammers Single Barrel Pick - Barrel no 771648, aged 5 years, 3 months, aged in an ISC (Independent Stave Co.) classic #4 barrel, rickhouse E-N25-10-4, Yeast strain FP1. Wilderness Trail as many of you know specializes in wheated bourbon, which is the case here, and they also use a sweet mash process (so they do NOT use backset from prior distillations in subsequent mashes, unlike most distilleries). Drammers had selected a single cask of Wilderness Trail a couple years ago that was accidentally lost by the distillery (they accidentally used it in a small batch blend, ha, which does happen from time to time). So, this is a barrel we’ve been waiting for for a long time now. The barrel yielded 204 bottles.

  • Wild Turkey Rye Single Barrel - This single barrel was selected by our friends at the great Jack Rose Dining Saloon, arguably one of the best whisky bars in America. It is worth noting that very, very few single barrels of Wild Turkey rye are released each year (probably 5 or so). This barrel was aged 8 years (2016-2024) in Warehouse Tyrone Q, Floor 5. Bottled at their signature 50.5% abv.

  • High West Cask Collection Petite Syrah - Our friends at the High West Distillery in Park City, Utah have started releasing a series of limited edition “Cask Collection” bottlings in the United States, including this recent release, which sees a “blend of straight whiskeys” (basically a mixture of their bourbon and rye) finished in a petite syrah casks. Bottled at 50% abv.

  • Loch Lomond - Glengarry Single Malt Scotch 10yo.  This is our second single barrel with Loch Lomond Glengarry, this time aged all 10 years in a Sauternes cask.  Single malt Scotch from a distillery just barely far enough North to qualify as a Highlands distillery.  Our last single cask with them (aged in a Bordeaux cask) was recently named the #1 single cask of Scotch in the world for 2024 at the San Francisco Spirit Awards, and maybe we're biased -- but we think this single cask is just as good, sweet, if a little brighter.

  • Diamond Rum 10yo (SCN Bottling). Single Cask Nation is an independent bottler based in the United States that mostly releases single casks of Scotch, and they have been ramping up since being acquired by Artisan (the same company that owns Scotch Malt Whisky Society). But they also occasionally release special single casks of rum like this one. This was distilled at the Diamond Distillery, aged 10 years in a 2nd fill bourbon hogshead and bottled at 52.1% abv.

  • Lost Lantern - Independent Bottling of Wollersheim Distillery Bourbon. Lost Lantern hand-selected this cask from Wollersheim Distillery in Wisconsin. With roots dating back to the 19th century, the family-owned winery and distillery has revived a long tradition of Wisconsin distilling.  This 5-year-old straight bourbon whiskey was made from 66% corn, 22% rye, and 12% malted barley, all locally grown. Natural cask strength, 131.2, 1 of 200 bottles.
